Hilda Esther Carda, 100, went to her heavenly home Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Good Samaritan Center – Tyndall.  Funeral service will be Saturday, February 1 at 10:30 am at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Armour.  Visitation will be Friday, January 31 from 5 to 7 pm, with a prayer service at 6:30 pm, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Armour.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Redeemer Lutheran Church or Macular Degeneration Association (https://macularhope.org).  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Hilda was born September 8, 1924 to Gert and Hannah (Bertus) Tapper at Lake Andes, SD.  She attended country school through the 8th grade.  She moved to Armour, SD in 1946 and worked for the Giollte family store which later became DeWald's Market.  She was united in marriage to Leo Carda on November 1, 1947 in Mitchell, SD.  In the fall of 1950 Hilda decided to be a stay at home mom with her focus on family.  Later, with the children grown, she returned to work at Belitz Dress Shop which later became Corky's Dress Shop.  She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran ChurchVFW Auxiliary and Lutheran Women’s League and enjoyed spending time with family, especially family vacations, playing cards and putting puzzles together.

Grateful for having shared her life are her 3 children:  Bonnie Welch of Yankton, SD; Ronnie (Lisa) Carda of Madison, WI and Betty (Jim) Cox of Kirksville, MO; 7 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo; a son-in-law, John Welch; 2 sisters, Gertrude Kirchhevel and Annetta Beckman; and 2 brothers, Martin and Herman Tapper.
