Obituary of James Edward Ronspies

Armour – James Edward Ronspies, 72, went to his heavenly home Sunday, January 26, 2025 at his home near Armour.  Memorial service will be Saturday, February 8 at 10:00 am, with visitation beginning at 9:00 am, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Armour.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Armour.

James was born April 2, 1952 to Leo and Margret (Biggie) Ronspies of Armour, SD.  Jim graduated from Armour High School in 1971 and from Mitchell Technical Institute with a degree in carpentry.

Jim farmed with his Dad and brother at the home place for a number of years while continuing his carpentry trade. He worked at the Corsica Lumber Yard for 10 years until the time of his passing, worked at the Armour Veterinary Clinic with Doc Watson. Jim never hesitated to help a friend or neighbor in any way he could and was always up for a good story.

Jim was passionate about his corgi dogs, his old tractors, and his percheron draft teams. He enjoyed giving rides on his wagons during parades and family reunions. In his younger years, he was known as "The Pepsi Cola Kid" and was known for his love for his family, faith and friends. 

Jim was proud to have raised 4 children, Jennifer, Joshua, Blase and Anna.  He was very proud of each them and all their accomplishments. He is blessed with 14 grandchildren and a great-grand-child. 

Grateful to have shared his life are his wife, Linda of Armour, SD; children, Jennifer (Reginald) Ronspies of Como, NC, Joshua (Kathleen) Ronspies of Angelton, TX, Anna Ronspies of Avon, SD; step-daughter, Becca Naser; grandchildren: TJ Batte (Elizabeth City, NC), Elijah Smith, Tristen Redmond (Como, NC), Charlie, Tanner, Ava, Blase and Cooper Ronspies (Angelton, TX), Celeste (Bennett) Peters and Jordan Perez (Colorado Springs, CO); Maylynn Ronspies (Avon, SD); step grandchildren aylor Naser (Avon); Faith Christiansen (Belle Fourche, SD) and Charli Christiansen (Oral, SD); a great-grandchild, Teaghan Peters (Colorado Springs, CO); siblings, Elaine (Richard) Hawley of Harrisburg, SD, Theresa (Nick T) VanDam of Remsen, IA, Colleen (Mark) Mosterd of Platte, SD, and Carman Lewis of St. Libory, NE; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Margaret Ronspies; brother, Paul (Kay) Ronspies; sister, Barbara Wieczorek; and beloved son, Blase Ronspies.
