Parkston – Marleen Ann Doering, 80, went to her heavenly home Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Avera Bormann Manor.  Funeral service will be Wednesday, February 26 at 2:00 pm, with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm, at Salem Lutheran Church in Parkston. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Marleen was born January 14, 1945 to Edward and Grace (Mammenga) Johnke in Sioux Falls, SD. She attended and graduated from Methodist School of Nursing in 1966. She was united in marriage to Raymond Doering on April 26, 1969 in Canistota, SD. The couple lived in Sioux City, IA where Marleen worked at Saint Luke’s Hospital. They moved to Mitchell, SD where she worked at Saint Joseph’s Hospital. After moving to Parkston, she worked at Avera Saint Benedict Hospital, Good Samaritan Center, Statz Drug Home Health, and Avera Home Medical Equipment. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, the Jaycette’s in Parkston, and was a Girl Scout leader. She loved cooking, baking, solving crosswords, watching game shows, making arts and crafts of all sorts, and especially loved attending her grandchildren’s activities.

Grateful for having shared her life are her 2 children: David (Jolyn) Doering of Parkston and Michelle Lichtenberg of Rapid City, SD; 4 grandsons: Nathan and Adam Doering and James and Jacob Lichtenberg; and 2 sisters: Wanda (Dave) Cross of Brandon, SD and Karen Reimnitz of Armour, SD. 

She was preceded in death by her parents: husband, Raymond; and a sister, Betty Doane.
