Obituary of Bertha Friederich

Bertha Friederich, 96, went to her heavenly home Friday, April 18, 2025 at Avera St. Benedict Health Center in Parkston.  Funeral service will be Saturday, April 26 at 10:30 am at Memorial Baptist Church in Parkston.  Visitation will be Friday, April 25 from 5 to 7 pm, with a 7:00 pm prayer service, at Memorial Baptist Church in Parkston.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Bertha was born December 19, 1928 to Carl and Albina (Stoebner) Keller in Tripp, SD.  She grew up on the farm near Tripp and attended country school close-by, through the 8th grade.  She was united in marriage to Victor Friederich on December 17, 1946.   In the union, 5 children, Allen, Jerry, Barb, Randy and Denis, were born. Together, they farmed near Tripp with Bertha being an excellent farm hand and enjoying all aspects of the farm and gardening. She enjoyed baking and teaching family how to make German dishes such as kuchen and streusel. You could also hear conversations in German in the home. She belonged to the Tripp Baptist Church where they merged with Parkston and became Memorial Baptist Church.  She taught Sunday School for many decades, and enjoyed teaching her grandchildren when they would come to visit.  She would be ready for a game of Pitch and other games whenever family was around.

Grateful for having shared her life are her 5 children:  Allen Friederich of Tripp; Jerry - decreased (Karen) Friederich of Rapid City; Barbara Janis of Platte City, MO; Randy (Jo) Friederich of Parkston; and Denis (Lori) Friederich of Campobello, SC; 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Victor; son Jerry, and 4 siblings, Lenora DeWald, Melvin Keller, Ruben Keller, and Elmer Keller.
