Mitchell – Rev. Dale Battleson, 78, went to meet his Savior in his eternal home on Monday, March 27 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral service will be Tuesday, April 4 at 10:00 am at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Corsica with burial to follow in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, rural Armour. Visitation will be Monday, April 3 from 6 to 8 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Corsica. Rev. Dale Battleson was born April 24, 1938 to Leonard and Amanda (Estness) Battleson in Duluth, MN. He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Duluth. He was united in marriage to Kay Reynolds on January 23, 1965 at Zion Lutheran Church in Anoka, MN. He served his country as a reservist in the United States Coast Guard. He attended the Lutheran Bible Institute in Golden Valley, MN and was ordained in 1968. During his ministry, Dale served many parishes as well as being a chaplain in several nursing homes. Communities he served include Bagley, MN; Pukwana, SD; Bradley Crocker, SD; Rapid City, SD; Roslyn, SD; Moorestown, ND; Woonsocket, SD and Stickney, SD. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Kay of Mitchell; 2 children: Lisa Renne of Rapid City and Christopher (Krystal) Battleson of Carteret, NC; 2 grandchildren: Austyn Bryn Battleson and Mason Witte; and a sister, Geraldine (Larry) Sjoberg of Corrales, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Bonnie.
