Mitchell – Janet Ann Miller, 82, went to her heavenly home Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab.  Funeral services will be Friday, May 23 at 10:00 am, with visitation beginning at 9:00 am, at Parkston Congregational Church in Parkston.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Janet was born March 9, 1943 to Charles and Stella (Ressel) Farris in Mitchell, SD.  She graduated from Mitchell High School and then Dakota Wesleyan University and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Education.  She was united in marriage to Claude Miller on July 27, 1964 in Mitchell.  The couple moved to Inwood, IA for a few years before moving to Parkston, SD where Claude was a teacher. Janet substitute taught in the Parkston school district before teaching full time in Mitchell and working for the Mitchell Daily Republic. Eventually, she became a full time teacher in Parkston. She was a member of Parkston Congregational Church where she taught Sunday School and participated in bible study.  She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary and PTO and enjoyed reading, gardening and her pets. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attended all of their activities. 

Grateful for having shared her life are her 3 children: Allan (Laura) Miller of Mitchell; Paul (Jenny) Miller of Tea, SD; and Sarah (Jason) Weber of Parkston; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and a brother Bill (Noelle) Farris of Ponte Vedra, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Claude; 2 brothers: Jack (Melda) Farris and Jerry Farris; and one sister, Norma (Don) Boyden.
