Parkston – Lorena Ernestine Sinkbeil, 102, went to her heavenly home Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Avera Bormann Manor.  Funeral service will be Saturday, June 7 at 10:30 pm, with visitation beginning at 9:30 am, at Salem Lutheran Church in Parkston.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Lorena was born April 24, 1923 to Christian and Maria (Hoffmann) Winter in Parkston, SD.  She attended a one room country school thru the eighth grade and graduated from Parkston High School in 1941.  She worked at various businesses in Parkston from the time she was in high school including K & K Store, Opps Dress Shop, and Ed’s Toggery.  She was united in marriage to Vilo Sinkbeil on December 31, 1944.  Together they farmed southeast of Parkston until Vilo’s death on July 8, 1973.  Lorena was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Parkston where she was active in WELCA and was in charge of the quilting guild for several years.  She enjoyed traveling and visited most every state, including Hawaii and Alaska, as well as traveling abroad to England, Europe, Italy and China.

Grateful for having shared her life are her 2 sons:  James Sinkbeil of Parkston and his 3 children:  Megan (Ian) Bearce (children Katherine and Austin) of Maple Grove, MN; Mark (Lana) Barton (son, Andrew) of Medina, MN; and KellyBeth Sinkbeil of Minneapolis, MN; and David (Kelly) Sinkbeil of Chandler, AZ and their 2 children:  Nellie O’Reilly of Lakeside, MT and Brandon (Andrea) Sinkbeil of Golden, CO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vilo; 5 brothers, Dewald, Leo, Milton, Harry and Ruben Winter; and 3 sisters, Lena Bartel, Esther Winter and Marie Uttecht.
