Obituary of Norman William Endres

Parkston – Norman William Endres, 91, went to his heavenly home Tuesday, June 9, 2025 at Avera St. Benedict Hospital.  Funeral mass will be Monday, June 16 at 10:30 am at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Dimock.  Visitation will be Sunday, June 15 from 5 to 7 pm, with a 7:00 pm prayer service, at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Dimock.

Norman was born August 2, 1933 to Mathew and Sophie (Kurtenbach) Endres on the family farm near Dimock, SD.  He attended Ss. Peter & Paul Parochial School through the 8th grade and graduated from Ethan High School in 1952.  He entered the United States Army on May 18, 1954 and served his country during the Korean War until being honorably discharged on May 3, 1956.  During this time, he served in the Signal Corp and was stationed in Germany for 14 months.  He returned to South Dakota where he worked for J.L. Healy Construction in Sioux Falls.  He was united in marriage to Germaine Haiar on April 10, 1958 at Farmer, SD.  In 1961, they maoved to the home farm near Ethan.  In addition to farming, Norman also worked at Farmers Elevator in Ethan, was a route salesman for Frito Lay and drove a maintainer for the Davison County Highway Department.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #261, where he was a past commander, as well as being a member of the Holy Trinity Cemetery Board, the Moose Lodge and the Ethan Trial Riders.  He also enjoyed attending antique and auction sales.

Grateful for having shared his life are his 4 children:  Steve (Cindy) Endres of Mitchell, SD; Bob (Lisa) Endres of Ethan; Diane (Steve) Kennedy of Sioux Falls, SD; and Mark (Stacey) Endres of Ethan; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mathew and Sophie and wife, Germaine.
