Parkston – Darlene E. Mogck, 89, went to her heavenly home Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Avera Bormann Manor.  Funeral service will be Thursday, July 17 at 11:00 am at Parkston Congregational Church in Parkston.  Visitation will be Wednesday, July 16 from 5:00 to 6:30 pm at Parkston Congregational Church.

Darlene was born on August 22, 1935 to Christian and Martha (Otto) Baumiller. She was united in marriage to Howard Mogck on December 6, 1953 at Salem Lutheran Church in Parkston. Together, they made their home on a farm outside Parkston until moving into town in 1983. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Darlene cherished her role as a farm wife and homemaker. She was also known for her work painting and wallpapering alongside friends for many years. Darlene had a passion for gardening, cooking, and baking—her homemade treats were lovingly shared with family, friends, and neighbors. She was a longtime member of the Parkston United Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday school and was active in Ladies Aid.

Grateful for having shared her life are her three children: Kathy (Jeff) Digerness of Blackhawk, SD; Dan (Patty) Mogck of Parkston; and Steve (Laura) Mogck of Parkston; seven grandchildren: Sadie (Jon) Thomas, Megan (Cody) Nuttbrock, Tara Putzier (Terry Arends), Dylan Mogck, Heidi (Jacob) Christensen Derek (Lexie) Mogck, and Miles (Bailee) Mogck; eleven great-grandchildren: Eliah, Makenlee, Kyelor, and Madden Christensen; Tucker and Elaina Thomas; Colton and Hattie Nuttbrock; Kasen and Sutton Mogck; and Remi Mogck; and a brother-in-law, Arlo Mogck of St. Paul, MN.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, son Thomas (1959), her parents, Christian and Martha Baumiller, parents-in-law Rudy and Saline Mogck and (2nd wife Leah Radel), 3 brothers: Clarence (Eldora), Raymond (Alice), and Lewis (Darleen) Baumiller; a sister, Elaine (Dale) Gilbertson; and 2 sisters-in-law, Delores (Glen) Radel and Judy Mogck.

Darlene’s kindness, faith, and dedication to her family and friends leave a lasting legacy in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
