Mitchell – W. Ben Mulder, 96, went to his heavenly home Sunday, July 20, 2025 at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Funeral service will be Thursday, July 24 at 10:30 am, with visitation beginning at 9:30 am, at Grandview Reformed Church in Armour.
Ben was born July 13, 1929 to William and Katie (Russ) Mulder and grew up on a farm with his parents, his brother Pete, and three sisters, Katie, Irene and Willamena. He was married to Aldeene (Ettswold) Mulder in 1950. They raised their family on a farm in Letcher SD and later, moved to Amour SD to farm in Douglas Co. He then became a Boilermaker and worked on nuclear and coal power plants in a five state area for Kansas City Boilermaker’s. After his retirement, he started a business, Trail Rite Trailers, and manufactured and sold trailers. During his retirement years, his passion was creating metal art work while also writting his book, “Cross Power Saves Lives”. Ben went to his heavenly home Sunday, July 20, 2025 at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell, SD at the age of 96.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Carol Mulder; 4 children: Alana Mulder of Melbourne, Florida, Lori (Jim) Cahill of Sumter, SC, Bryan (Joan) Mulder of Armour. and Chari Preacher of Camden SC; 6 grandchildren: Ben (Cindy) Cahill of Columbia SC, Cori (Will) Reeves of Charlotte NC, Joe (Chloe) Cahill of Conway, SC, Jordan Mulder of Armour and Arden and Aleena Preacher of Camden, SC; and 3 great-grandchildren: James S. Cahill, Jackson Cahill, and Catie Anne Reeves.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Aldeene; and a daughter, Cindi Mulder.
