Sioux Falls – Dennis Laurel Bordewyk, 91 went to his heavenly home Friday, August 8, 2025 at the Sioux Falls VA Hospice Cottage.  Funeral service will be Monday, August 18 at 10:30 am, with visitation beginning at 9:30 am, at Grandview Reformed Church in Armour.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Armour.

Dennis was born August 4, 1934 on a farm near Aurora Center, SD to John and Clara (Star) Bordewyk. His parents traveled for work, growing up in Bellingham, WA, Eagle, ID, Nemo, SD, Springfield, SD, and Armour graduating from Corsica High School. He entered the United States Army on March 8, 1957 and served his country until being honorably discharged on February 27, 1959. While in the service, he was part of Operation Blue Bat during the Lebanese Crisis and received the Good Conduct Medal and Sharp Shooter Badge. He was united in marriage to his best friend, Carol Jongejeuged on May 20, 1959 at New Holland Christian Reformed Church. The couple made their home on the farm in Douglas County where Dennis was a lifelong farmer. After 45 loving years of marriage, Dennis lost Carol from complications of Multiple Sclerosis on May 20 of 2004. He was a member of Grandview Reformed Church in Armour, was an avid woodworker, and enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, and listening to music.

Grateful for having shared his life are his 2 sons, Barry (Karen) Bordewyk of Sioux Falls, SD and Troy (Cheryl) Bordewyk of Corsica, SD. He was a loving grandfather to 5 grandchildren, Lindsey, Wyatt (Ruth) and Logan (Andrea) Bordewyk and Chalee (Reno), McKinney and Dayson Bordewyk who brought endless pride to his life. Dennis was further blessed with 8 great-grandchildren whom he enjoyed making wooden toys for into retirement, Riley and Lincoln Drangstveit; Charlotte, Leo, and Quentin Bordewyk; Reid and Ava Bordewyk and Raylee McKinney. He is survived by several nieces and nephews, and close friend and sweetheart of 13 years, Fran Harrington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol; and a sister, Donna (Dennis) DenBesten.
