Delores Theresa Hohn Obituary

Parkston – Delores Theresa Hohn, 92, went to her heavenly home Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Avera Bormann Manor.  Funeral mass will be Wednesday, February 11 at 10:30 am, with rosary beginning at 10:00, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Dimock.

Delores was born November 16, 1934 to Peter and Thresia (Tischler) Hohn. She was the youngest of seven children. She along with her siblngs, Marcella, Alvin, Marvin, Mary Ann, Jerome and Delores, were raised on a farm west of Dimock.

For eight years she attended Dimock Catholic Grade School. When she was 11, her mother died after giving birth to a sister Mary Ann, who also died. Her mother, Thresia, also had pancreatic cancer. Her father, Peter, raised the rest of the five children who were home.

Later in life, her dad, she and her brother, Jerome, moved to a farm east of Dimock near the lake. Delores, never married and in turn, she took care of Peter, with the help of her brother Jerome, until Peter died at age 79 at home.

She was a hard-working gal, helping with cattle, pig & chicken chores, and with seasonal jobs such as haying. Delores would shovel their long driveway open. It was no easy task, but she wanted to be sure her brother could make it home after he had worked at the Dimock Cheese Factory that day.

She would have holiday dinners for the family and some of her nephews and nieces remember the homemade pies, dumplings & dressing she provided. They remember her as a quiet aunt, but one who had a ready smile, a laugh and an answer to any question they may have.

Eventually, she and Jerome moved to a home in Parkston where she worked for a number of years cleaning the Parkston Post Office. After Jerome died, she moved to a smaller apartment complex in Parkston where her sister Marcella also was living. Delores moved next to the Bormann’s Assisted Living center where her sister Marcella joined her later. She enjoyed taking part in many of the monthly activities, visiting and listening to music, until a kidney condition afflicted her. She then moved to the skilled nursing section of Bormann Manor.

She was a long time member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church when living near Dimock. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston.

She leaves behind 16 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, baby Mary Ann, brothers Alvin, Marvin & Jerome, sisters Marcella Jendersee and Mary Ann Fischer, nephew Stan Jendersee, nieces Lori Fischer & Charlene Greenway.
