Kathy Lyn Harrington. Lovingly known as “Kate”, was born on September 2, 1956, in Wagner, South Dakota, to Gene and Sharon (Peters) Harrington. She later moved to Indiana with her family when her father began a new job. Kate attended and graduated from Clay High School in South Bend, Indiana. Kate and Larry shared 27 wonderful years together after meeting at a winter 4H fair. Larry first noticed Kate at a booth, but it was Kate who made the first move bringing him a chocolate chip cookie, a simple gesture that began a lasting and loving partnership. Kate was known for her strong work ethic and caring nature. She worked as a ward clerk at Wagner Community Memorial Hospital and dedicated many years to caring for others at the Tripp and Wagner nursing homes. She also brought her talents to the kitchen as a cook at the Delmont Inn and Café, where her hard work and warm spirit were appreciated by many. Kate had a gift for connection and truly enjoyed being around people. She loved socializing, bowling, playing bingo and trying her luck at a little gambling. She enjoyed reading anything she could get her hands on and could often be found playing solitaire on her iPad. She had a special love for baking and cooking until she met her partner, Larry, who happily took over the cooking duties. Together, they shared many cherished memories. A devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church, Kate’s faith was an important part of her life. She treasured time spent with her family, especially her nieces and nephews and loved traveling particularly when it meant being with those she loved. She never passed up a good sheet cake and always found ways to bring joy to those around her. Kate will be remembered for her kind heart, her hard working spirit, and the love she gave so freely to her family and friends.

She is lovingly remembered by her longtime partner, Larry Clouse; two brothers, Kevin (Kristie) Harrington of Burlington, North Carolina, and Kerry (Sally) Harrington of Delmont; a sister, Kim Harrington of Mitchell; a sister-in-law, Rose Harrington of Mitchell, 10 nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Aaron) Gerfen of South Dakota, Janell Bodnar of Arizona, Nathan (Shelon) Harrington of South Dakota, Mckenzy (Cody) Raterman of South Dakota, Chelsey Harrington of South Dakota, Chessa Harrington of South Dakota, Maverick (Kaydee) Harrington of South Dakota, Mataya (Tanner) James of South Dakota, Eric Harrington of New Jersey, and Joe (Alyssa) Harrington of Florida; and 13 great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Sharon; her brother Ken Harrington; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
