Dennis Ziebart, 80, went to meet his creator on Monday, May 11, 2026 at his home near Delmont.  Memorial mass will be Monday, May 18 at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parskton.  Visitation will be Sunday, May 17 from 5 to 7 pm, with a 7:00 pm prayer service, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston.  Memorials would be preferred in lieu of flowers.

Dennis was born to Herbert & Gladys Ziebart on December, 22, 1945 in Delmont, SD. He grew up on the family farm near Delmont, SD and attended Lincoln County school until 8th grade. He graduated from Parkston High School in 1963. He was united in marriage to Judy Hauser on September 2nd, 1968.

Dennis started his working career right after high school putting in culverts along I-90, and later inspecting telephone lines with Schmucker, Schaefer & Paul. In 1967, he began working at Farmers Elevator. After six years, he became manager. In 1977 he took over the family farm where he and his wife farmed for 48 years. He was also a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 27 years.

Dennis enlisted in the South Dakota National Guard on September 8, 1964, and proudly served for 27 years. He retired as an E-7 in 1991. He also dedicated many years to public service in his community. He was a member of the Lincoln Township Board for 25 years, was active with the Parkston Fire Department for 9 years and served as a Fire Board member since 1979. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion and served two terms as commander. Dennis enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life.

He had a special interest in collecting toy tractors, vintage cars, and old tractors. He was also an avid fan of music from the 1950s and 1960s and took great pride in supporting his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their activities and events.

Grateful for sharing his life are his wife of 57 years, Judy of Delmont, SD; His children Troy (Tara) Ziebart of Armour, SD, Todd (Kristy) Ziebart of Parkston, SD, Tara (Matt) Sparks of Watertown, SD. Sisters Dawn (Ron) Neugebauer of Dimock, Deb (Tom) Neugebauer of Mitchell, SD, 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Dennis will be remembered for his strong work ethic. He was a loving husband and a proud grandfather, and great-grandfather, and a man whose quiet strength and caring heart touched the lives of many. He found joy in a life of purpose, in the work of his hands, and in the people he loved most.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents; Herb & Gladys Ziebart. Father & Mother-in law (Ted & Mildred Hauser), as well as many aunts and uncles.
