Obituary of Adeline Elizabeth Thuringer

Vancouver, WA – Adeline Elizabeth Thuringer, 89, went to her heavenly home Monday, April 2 in Vancouver, WA. Funeral mass will be Monday, April 9 at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston. Visitation will be Sunday, April 8 from 5 to 7 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Adeline was born August 11, 1928 to Fred J. and Applonia (Schoenfelder) Weber in Dimock, SD. She attended Ss. Peter & Paul Parochial School in Dimock through the 8th grade. She was united in marriage to Jerauld J. Thuringer on February 9, 1948 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Dimock. The couple farmed and raised their 13 children near Dimock. She worked for the Disabled American Veterans and Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell, SD and later Parkston Food Center in Parkston, SD. She was an active member of her church, Catholic Daughters of America and Altar Society and taught CCD. She loved quilting, playing cards and visiting with family and friends.

Grateful for having shared her life are her 9 children: Tom (Dodee) Thuringer of Crockett, TX; Hardel (Becky) Thuringer of Battleground, WA; Marlene (Paul) Schmig of Mitchell; Theresa (Todd) Anderson Pike Road, AL; Jerome (Penny) Thuringer of Sioux Falls, SD; Kevin Thuringer of Parkston; Lou Ann (Jerry) Hug of Kennewick, WA; Vincent (Tina) Thuringer of Lincoln, NE; and Virginia (Steve) Jaton of Nunda, SD; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Pauline, Irene and Sally.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerauld; a daughter, Barbara Schelhaas; 3 sons, Wilfred, Dale and Virgil Thuringer; 2 grandsons, Bradley and David Thuringer and 6 siblings, William, James, Paul, Cecilia, Rosaline and Viola.
