Parkston – Renee Ann Greiner, 58, went to her heavenly home Saturday, August 11 at Avera St. Benedict Hospital in Parkston. Funeral mass will be Thursday, August 16 at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 15 from 5 to 7 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Renee was born October 5, 1959 to Vern and Rose (Scott) Bormann in Parkston, SD. She attended Parkston Elementary, Yankton High School and graduated from St. Coletta's School in Jefferson, WI in 1981. While at St. Coletta's, she met her future husband, Thomas F. Greiner. The were united in marriage on September 26, 1981 in Parkston. She worked in housekeeping at Sacred Heart Hospital and as a waitress at Pizza Hut in Yankton, SD. She also volunteered at the Washington County Animal Shelter and was employed by Washington County Development in Washington, IA. Renee and Tom belonged to the Railroad Club in Washington, and Renee also belonged to 4H and Girls Scouts in Jefferson, IA, and St. Joseph’s Altar Society in Wellman, IA. Renee was an avid collector, most notably of lanyards, badges and anything Iowa Hawkeyes. She made bookmarks and loved to read, sing and dance. Her knitting and crocheting had to be perfect. She participated in Special Olympics and received several medals in swimming.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Tom of Parkston; 9 siblings: Verna Kay Bormann of Parkston; Shirley Altenhofen of Coralville, IA; Robert (Debora) Bormann of Parkston; Paul (Kelly) Bormann of Chamberlain, SD; Douglas (Kathy) Bormann of Parkston; Mary (Dave) Mickley of Rapid City, SD; Steven Bormann of Parkston; Bruce (Brenda) Bormann of Eaton, CO; and Scott (Cheryl) Bormann of Parkston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Frederick.

Memorials may be directed to Parkston Rural Fire Protection District.
