Obituary of Kenneth Eugene Porter

Geddes - Kenneth Eugene Porter went to his heavenly home Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the Human Services Center in Yankton, SD.  Memorial services will be Monday, October 29 at 10:30 am at the Geddes Mulitpurpose Center (formerly the high school gymnasium) in Geddes.  There will be a prayer service on Sunday, October 28 at 5:00 pm with supper and fellowship to follow at the Geddes Multipurpose Center in Geddes.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Armour.

Ken was born October 27, 1959 to Ramond and Edith (Sterk) Porter in Platte, SD.  He attended Geddes High School and graduated in 1977.  After graduation, he began farming near Geddes.  He was united in marriage to Kerrie Reif on February 16, 1980 in Geddes.  The couple made their home on the farm and raised their 2 children there.  Ken was a lifelong farmer.  He was a member of the Tractor Pullers Club, Geddes Fur Traders Club, Pork Producers Board and was the director of Charles Mix Electric for 26 years.  He was a proud grandpa who enjoyed pheasant hunting and visiting with family and friends.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Kerrie of Geddes; 2 children:  Karen (Casey) Shulaw of Delmont, SD and Keith Porter of Geddes; mother, Edith of Armour, SD; father-in-law,, John (Mary) Reif of Armour; 3 grandchildren:  RaeLynn, Wyatt and Caitlyn; and a brother, Dale Porter and special friend Sandy of Geddes.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ramond; mother-in-law, Patti Reif; grandparents; a brother-in-law, Clay Wise; and many aunts and uncles.
