Obituary of Douglas Richard Freier

   Parkston - Douglas Richard Freier, 63, died at his home near Parkston on Sunday, December 30, 2018. Funeral service will be Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Parkston Congregational Church in Parkston with burial following in Parkston Protestant Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 2, 2018 from 5 - 7 PM at Parkston Congregational Church in Parkston with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

   Douglas Richard Freier was born on November 1, 1955 to Milton and W. Elaine (Decker) Freier in Parkston, SD. He graduated from Parkston High School, then graduated from South Dakota State University in Brookings with a Dairy Science Degree. After graduation, he worked for Culhane's Dairy in Mitchell. He returned home to farm with his parents near Parkston. Doug was a member of Parkston Congregational Church where he served on the church board and sang in the mixed choir. He was a member of the township board. He greatest joys were church, family, singing in the church choir, children, playing cards and board games. He died at his home near Parkston on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the age of 63.

   Doug is survived by his fiancée, Jennifer Morkve of Yankton, SD, father, Milton Freier of Parkston, SD, 2 brothers, Garry (Jo) Freier of Mitchell, SD and Joel (Brenda) Freier of Cutler, OH, sister, Denise (Mike) Muntefering of Dimock, SD, 11 nieces and nephews, Heather Taylor of Spring Hill, KS, Jennifer Trustem of Neenah, WI, Chris Freier of Sioux Falls, SD, Steven Freier of Parkville, MO, Nathan Freier of Fayettville, WV, Ian Lynn of Vicent, OH, Olivia Kaptis of Belpre, OH, Joshua Freier of Hilliard, OH, Alexia Klinkhammer of Hartford, SD, Drew Muntefering of Dimock, SD, and Mallory Zirpel of Parkston, SD.

   He was preceded in death by his mother, W. Elaine Freier, great-nieces, Ashlyn & Keelyn Klinkhammer, and grandparents.
