Obituary of Evelyn B. Livingston

Evelyn B. Livingston, 99, formerly of Stickney, died Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell, SD.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 15 at 10:30 am with visitation beginning an hour prior to the service at the United Methodist Church in Stickney.

My mother's birth to Albert and Katherine (Noteboom) Klein was recorded on December 8, 1919 in Douglas Coutny, SD. She attended country school and later Stickney High School, graduating in 1938. On March 13, 1940, she married Ron Livingston. Two children were born to this union, Larry and Marla. Mom and dad owned and operated several businesses in Stickney. Her true calling, though, was her love of numbers and her talent for bookkeeping. The time she spent as the Aurora County Treasurerer's office and the 18 years she was business manager for Stickney Public School were a joy to her. When my parents retired, they spent as much time as possible fishing and camping. Mom considered their travel trailer "home". She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Stickney.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron in 1997; her son Larry in 1957; parents; 2 brothers, Lloyd Klein and Robert Klein; and many dear relatives and friends.

Keeping mom's spirit and memory alive are her daughter and son-in-law, Marla and Byron McGregor of Reno, NV; a brother, Verle (Nancy) Klein of Charleston, SC; a sister-in-law, Gladys Livingston of Mitchell; and generations of nieces, nephews, and the wonderful people who shared coffee and conversation with her when she lived in Stickney and those who showed their kindness with cards, letters, visits and treats while she was at Firesteel.
