Funeral mass will be Friday, January 25 at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston. Visitation will be Thursday, January 24 from 5 to 7 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.
Bonnie was born April 23, 1935 to Albert and Hattie (Smith) Simek on the family farm near Tyndall, SD. She attended country school near their farm and graduated from Tyndall High School. She was united in marriage to Gustave George Pansegrau on June 21, 1954 at St. Leo Catholic Church in Tyndall. The couple moved to Parkston, SD where Bonnie held various jobs including babysitting, custom sewing, worked at Neumayr Pharmacy, was a teacher's aide for the Parkston School District, worked for Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and was an EMT for the Parkston Ambulance Service. She loved to sew and made both her daughters’ prom and wedding dresses. She also enjoyed various forms of needlework including cross stitch, crocheting, embroidery, needlepoint and refinishing furniture. She enjoyed golf, swimming, water aerobics, cooking, baking and camping with Gus with their 5th wheel. She dearly loved her "coffee party" friends. She was a great listener and was known for her sweet and caring spirit. She was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1998, yet was never known to complain about her struggles. Bonnie had the soul of an angel and her faith was an integral part of her life. Family was so special to Bonnie and she loved to bless them with homemade gifts and sweets.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Gus of Parkston; 3 children: Cathy (Gary) Weber of Dimock, SD; Mike (Deb) Pansegrau of Walnut, IA; and Tricia (Kent) Thompson of Algonquin, IL; 10 grandchildren: Eric Weber, Heather Herman, Ann Jacobsen, Jennie Pansegrau, Misty Pansegrau, Billy Pansegrau, Josh Pansegrau, Sam Thompson, Ella Thompson, and Lucas Thompson; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Albert (Lois) Simek of Tyndall; and 2 sisters: Marce (Joe) Becvar of Tyndall and Pat (Gary) Vinzant of Boise, ID.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marie Petrik; and an infant son, David Joseph.
