Obituary of Frieda Maria Baier

   Parkston - Frieda Maria Baier, 98, died at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston on Friday, April 5, 2019. Funeral service will be Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Salem Lutheran Church in Parkston with burial following in Parkston Protestant Cemetery in Parkston. Visitation will be Monday, April 8, 2019 from 6:30 - 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Salem Lutheran Church in Parkston. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

   Frieda Maria Baier was born on September 30, 1920 to Phillip and Maria (Batterman) Lindemann near Delmont, SD. She was baptized on October 31, 1920 at Emanuel Lutheran Church north of Delmont and was confirmed on July 15, 1934.  She attended Bietz County School near Delmont. On June 25, 1939 she married Eugene Baier at Hope Lutheran Church in Delmont. They farmed near Delmont until moving to Lincoln, NE in 1967 where she worked at Miller & Paine Department Store. They retired in 1979 and moved to Parkston. Eugene died on June 16, 2002. Frieda was a member of Salem Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, W-ELCA, church choir, American Legion Auxiliary, and was a 4-H Leader. She enjoyed embroidering, making quilts and blankets, gardening, flowers, and playing cards. She died at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston on Friday, April 5, 2019 at the age of 98.

   She is survived by her 2 children, Allen (Cynthia) Baier of Lincoln, NE and Jeanette Young of Billings, MT, brother, Dale Lindemann of Denver, CO, sister, Laverna Mueller of Parkston, SD, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

   She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law, Beverly Baier, son-in-law, George Young, brother, Thomas Lindemann, and sister, Lillian Williamson.
