Obituary of Darrell Dwaine Winter

   Parkston - Darrell Dwaine Winter, 87, died at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston on Friday, April 5, 2019. Memorial service will be Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Parkston Congregational Church in Parkston. Visitation will be an hour before the service at the church. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

   Darrell Dwaine Winter was born on July 9, 1931 in Parkston, SD to Solomon and Emma Winter. He graduated from Parkston High School in 1949. He entered the U.S. Army on July 15, 1952 and was honorably discharged on July 2, 1954. He was united in marriage to Cora Mae Zenner in Fergus Falls, MN. The couple moved to Parkston where Darrell worked at Leader Hardware with his father and brother. Darrell worked as custodian at Parkston High School from 1975 until 1991 when he started doing heating and plumbing work. He was a member of Parkston Congregational Church in Parkston where he served on the church council, taught Sunday School, and was a Cub Scout Leader. He enjoyed wood working. He died on Friday, April 5, 2019 at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston at the age of 87.

   He is survived by his wife, Cora Mae of Parkston, SD, 4 children, David Winter of Parkston, SD, Tom (Gene) Winter of Phoenix, AZ, Nancy (Jay) Mills of Manhattan, KS, and Sandra Winter of Manhattan, KS, 4 grandchildren, Kyle Mills, Alex Mills, Amanda (COlin) Reisner, Emily (Bill) VanHoecke, and 7 great-grandchildren.

   He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Norman and wife, Rosalie and Lewis and wife, Grace, and brother-in-law, John Krebs.
