Parkston – Ronald James Alberts, 72, went to his heavenly home Tuesday, December 3 at Avera St. Benedict Hospital in Parkston. Funeral service will be Friday, December 6 at 10:30 am at Salem Lutheran Church in Parkston. Visitation will be Thursday, December 5 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Salem Lutheran Church in Parkston. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Ronald James Alberts was born December 6, 1946 to Russell and Mary Catherine (Gross) Alberts in Sioux Falls, SD. He grew up on the family farm near Monroe and graduated from Monroe High School in 1964. After graduating from high school, he attended South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD for 2 1/2 years. He was united in marriage to Mary Hartman on August 22, 1970 at Zion Lutheran Church in Canistota, SD. He was confirmed into the Lutheran faith in March, 1976 at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Tripp, SD. Ron devoted his career to agriculture by managing grain elevators in Parker, Marion, Tripp, Canton and Parkston. He later worked at Parkston Independent Fertilizer and Dakota Plains Agricultural Center. He was a member of the Lions Club where he was past president and Salem Lutheran Church in Parkston where he was a member of the church council. He loved to read, take road trips to check on crops, play cards and golf and work in his garden. He was also a die-hard Minnesota Vikings fan. Ron went to his heavenly home Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Avera St. Benedict Hospital in Parkston at the age of 72.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Mary of Parkston; two children: Christopher (Kimberly) Alberts of Indio, CA and Kimberly Lee (Eric Meek) of Vermillion, SD; four grandchildren: Savanah and Mackenzie Alberts and Reagan and Sawyer Lee; a sister, Brenda (Steve) Major of Elkhorn, NE; and two sisters-in-law, Donna Alberts of Scotland, SD and Georgia Alberts of Sheridan, WY.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Thomas and Dennis Alberts.
