Velda K. Pruner, 58, went to her heavenly home Tuesday, December 24 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral mass will be Saturday, December 28 at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston. Visitation will be Friday, December 27 from 5 to 7 with a 6:30 pm prayer service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston. Velda K. Pruner was born May 30, 1961 to Gerald and Elanora (Gau) Herman in Parkston, SD. She attended Sacred Heart Parochial School through the 8th grade and then Parkston High School. After graduating from high school in 1979, she attended and graduated from Mitchell Vo-Tech. She moved back to Parkston where she began her career as a legal secretary working for Lloyd Mahan. After working for Lloyd for a few years, he sold the law firm to Keith Goehring whom Velda has worked for since. She was united in marriage to Steve Pruner on July 30, 1988 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston. Velda was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, taught CCD and enjoyed sewing, quilting, playing cards, putting puzzles together and coaching softball. Grandma V, as she liked to be called, most of all enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and attending their activities. Velda went to her heavenly home Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 58. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Steve of Parkston; father, Gerald of Parkston; 3 children: Matthew (Amber) Pruner of Sioux Falls; Stephanie (fiancee Matt Spain) Pruner of Sioux Falls; and Zachariah Pruner of Sioux Falls; 2 grandchildren, Elizabeth and Joseph Pruner; a brother, Dale Herman of Olivet, SD; a sister, Marsha (Steve) Altstiel of Sturgis, SD; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Norie and a brother, Wayne Herman.
