Parkston – Iona Margaret Tecklenburg, 93, went to her heavenly home Friday, February 28 at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston. Funeral service will be Tuesday, March 3 at 10:30 am at Faith Lutheran Church in Parkston with visitation beginning an hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Iona Margaret Tecklenburg was born February 23, 1927 to Albert and Dorthea (Stern) Wall on the farm near Freeman, SD. She attended country school near the farm and graduated from Freeman High School. She obtained her teachers certificate from Notre Dame in Mitchell, SD and taught for a short time in a country school. Iona was united in marriage to Alvin Tecklenburg on May 18, 1947 in Freeman. The couple moved to a farm near Dimock, SD where they farmed and raised their 5 children. Grandma I enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and playing cards. She also taught Sunday School and cut hair for the their entire neighborhood. Iona went to her heavenly home Friday, February 28, 2020 at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston at the age of 93.

Grateful for having shared her life are Dale (Barbara) Tecklenburg of Rapid City, SD; Jim (Mary) Tecklenburg of Harrisburg, SD; Lori (Harris) Harms of Corona, SD; and Faye (Kelly) Degen of Parkston; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Doreen Tellinghuisen of Sioux Falls, SD; and a brother, Harvey (Dona) Wall of Freeman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin; and a son, Todd.
