Parkston – Immanual Doddridge Mueller, 88, went to his heavenly home Sunday, January 8 at the Royal C. Johnson VA Center in Sioux Falls. Funeral service will be Friday, January 13 at 10:30 am at Salem Lutheran Church in Parkston. Visitation will be Thursday, January 12 from 6 to 8 pm at Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston. Immanuel Doddridge (Dodd) Mueller was born April 11, 1928 to Immanuel and Leona (Bigalk) Mueller in Metropolis, IL. He attended several schools while his parents moved but finished his schooling at Sioux Falls Washington High School in Sioux Falls, SD. He joined the United States Army in 1946 and served in Panama. After his honorable discharge in 1949, he attended the University of South Dakota - Springfield and graduated with a degree in Carpentry. He was united in marriage to Nellie Okkinga on June 27, 1954 at Salem Lutheran Church in Parkston. He owned and operated his own carpentry business for 50 years. Dad was a generous, caring person who lived for others, making room for everyone, sharing adventures like hunting, fishing, hiking, & camping. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church where he was a youth group leader. He was also a Boy Scout leader, member of the Lions Club, and Sportsman's Club. He is survived by his 4 children, Craig Mueller & wife Patricia of Strongsville, OH, David Mueller & wife Christy of Ames IA, Keith Mueller & wife Linda of Greeley CO, and Michael Mueller & wife Janice of Loveland CO. 6, grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren; a sister, Donna Laverentz and husband, Ralph of Tripp, SD; and a brother, Marlyn Mueller and wife, Lavonne of Alco, NV He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nellie; a sister, Phoebe Bernhard; and a brother, Milton in infancy. Dad wouldn’t want us on his death to dwell, There’s too many good stories of Dad to tell.
