Please share a memory of Harlan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Stickney - Harlan Lavern Plamp, 81, went to his heavenly home Sunday, November 1 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell. Due to Covid concerns, a private, family funeral service will be held Thursday, November 5 at 10:30 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stickney. A public visitation will be Wednesday, November 4 from 5 to 7 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stickney. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Stickney.

Harlan was born November 27, 1938 to Lawrence and Rosie (Jendersee) Plamp on the family farm in Aurora County, SD. He was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church by Pastor Peter Tecklenburg and confirmed into the Christian faith by Pastor Fink at St Paul Lutheran Church in Stickney, SD. He attended Long country school through the 8th grade and then began farming. He was united in marriage to Evalou Menning on June 16, 1961 at Grace Reformed Church in Corsica, SD. Together Harlan and Evalou began the farming life. On April 30, 1962, they welcomed their first son, Craig, followed by Curt on April 29, 1964 and Corey on May 29, 1967. Harlan was active in local community organizations such as the Jaycee's and township board but farming with his sons and grandsons was always his joy. Even after Harlan retired and Curt and Corey took over the family farm, Harlan was still an active participant in the day to day operation of the farm. Harlan and Evalou retired into Stickney in 1999 but Harlan continued to stay active. He worked for the Stickney Elevator, the South Dakota Highway 281 project through Stickney and later at Steve's Welding. When work would slow, Harlan's passion for fishing would often take him to one of his favorite fishing holes. Harlan's greatest love was the family time spent with Evalou, their sons and grandsons, Chad, Christopher, Bryce and Hayden and great grandchildren.  He loved to follow their school events, enjoyed their weddings, and helped them farm or do carpentry work together. Harlan went to his heavenly home Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, SD at the age of 81.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Evalou of Stickney; 3 sons: Craig Plamp of Denver, CO; Curt Plamp of Stickney; and Corey (Carla) Plamp of Stickney; 4 grandsons: Chad (Tami) Plamp of Stickney; Christopher (Chesley) Plamp of Stickney; Bryce Plamp of Stickney; and Hayden Plamp of Stickney; 6 great-grandchildren: Faith, Sutton, Brynlee, Cohen, Huxley, and Truett; 2 sisters: Marlene Henthorn of White Lake, SD and Diana (Chuck) Schroeder of Rochester, MN; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
