Obituary of Clara Noteboom

   Corsica - Clara Noteboom, 100, died at Good Samaritan Society in Corsica on Monday, December 14, 2020. Celebration of life will be held at Grace Reformed Church in Corsica on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 10:30 AM. The family would appreciate all that attend wear masks. Due to weather conditions, the funeral service has been postponed and will be Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Grace Reformed Church in Corsica at 10:30 AM.

   Clara Noteboom (De Vries) was born April 7, 1920, in Douglas County, SD to Gerrit H. and Allie (Menning) DeVries. She attended country school near Corsica. She married Andrew (Bud) Noteboom on June 20, 1939 and they shared 64 beautiful years together. To this union two daughters were born: Shirley and Nancy. 

   Clara was a lifelong member of Grace Reformed Church, where she was active in Ladies’ Missionary Society, and taught Bible school and Sunday school. She was a 25 year member of the Corsica Extension Club and Friendship Club. In honor of her 100th birthday, an Executive Proclamation from the State of South Dakota named April 7, 2020 as Clara Noteboom Day and she became a member of the Good Samaritan Century Club. 

   All those who knew Clara admired her hospitality and kindness. She especially enjoyed baking and cooking each family member’s favorite food. She was skilled at counted cross stitching, crocheting, knitting, and making unique artistries for her children and grandchildren. Her family will always remember her for her unconditional love for her 
husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and her never ending faith and trust in God. Our worlds were enriched deeply by her endearing spirit, sweet smile, and her devotion to her family. Clara died on December 14, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Home in Corsica at the age of 100. 

   Grateful for having shared her life are her two children, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, Shirley and Dean Van Peursem, Sioux Falls, SD and their children and grandchildren, Tonya and Blayne Brockmueller and son, Andrew and Tara and Michael Stegmann and children, Levi and Dakota, Nancy and Bob Kroese, Pella, IA and their children and grandchildren, Dr. Clarissa Kroese and David Davidson and children, Drew, Kylie and Maxx, Nathan and Melanie Kroese.

   She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew (2003); parents; two brothers, Herman De Vries and Frank De Vries, and three sisters, Ollie Doorn, Fannie Van Ekeren and Irene Bosma.
