Lake Andes - Josephine Kolecka, 81, died at Avera Sr. James Care Center in Yankton, SD on Sunday, April 2, 2017. Funeral service will be Friday, April 7, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Lake Andes with burial following in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery in Geddes. Visitation will be Thursday, April 6, 2017 from, 5 - 7 PM at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Lake Andes with a wake service and rosary at 7:00 PM. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Lake Andes. Josephine Kolecka was born on September 6, 1935 to William and Kathryn (Breidenbach) Gau on the family farm near Geddes, SD. She attended St. Ann's Catholic School in Geddes, Moore School - District 7, and graduated from Geddes High School in 1953. She married Edward C. Kolecka on November 17, 1953 in Geddes, SD. They lived on a farm near Geddes until 1959 and moved to Lake Andes, SD in 1960. Ed died on October 26, 1996. Josephine enjoyed playing cards and marbles, and spending time with family. She was a member VFW Auxiliary 3239 and American Legion Auxiliary #10. She died at Avera Sr. James Care Center in Yankton, SD on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the age of 81. She is survived by 4 daughters, Sister Debra Kolecka of Yankton, SD, Monica (Jeff) Walder of Lennox, SD, Audry (Bill) Ricketts of Pierre, SD and Sharon Marie (Bruce) Dvoracek of Lesterville, SD, and 5 grandchildren, Michael Dvoracek of Harrisburg, SD, Crystal (Darren) Bahnson of Tea, SD, Jessica (Tim) Carlson of Tea, SD. Danielle (Justin) Nasers of Sibley, IA and John Ricketts of Pierre, SD, and 2 great grandchildern, Briggs Carlson and Jax Dvoracek. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, 5 sisters and 4 brothers.
