   Parkston - Gladys Ziebart, 101, died at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell on Saturday, July 10, 2021. Funeral service will be Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at St. John's Lutheran Church near Dimock with burial following in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 13, 2021 from 5 - 7 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church near Dimock with prayer service at 7:00 PM.

   Gladys Ziebart was born on January 5, 1920 to Ernest and Emma (Sperlich) Kreth on the family farm near Mt. Vernon, SD. She attended country school near Mt. Vernon where her favorite subjects were Art, Hygiene and Health. After her schooling she cooked at country school before working as a maid in Mt. Vernon for the Spitzer family. Then she moved to Mitchell where she worked as a maid for Dr. Young. She met Herbert Ziebart at a dance in Parkston, SD and the couple were married on February 20, 1944 at St. John's Lutheran Church near Dimock. The couple moved to a farm near Delmont where they farmed and milked cows. She enjoyed raising chickens, ducks, geese and a large garden. They moved to Parkston in 1977. Herbert died on February 22, 2008. Gladys was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church near Dimock. She took great pride in her vegetable and flower gardens. At 95, she still shot rabbits out of her kitchen window. She was a 4-H leader for 10 years, was a member of Circle 14 Club, the ALCW, taught Sunday School, enjoyed playing harmonica, and decorated amazing homemade angelfood cakes. She died at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at the age of 101.

   She is survived by 3 children; Dennis (Judy) Ziebart of Delmont, SD; Dawn(Ron) Neugebauer of Dimock, SD; and Deb (Tom) Neugebauer of Mitchell, SD; 11grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

   She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Herbert, 5 brothers, Otto Burmeister, Ewald Burmeister, Bernard Kreth Luvern Kreth, and Ernest Kreth, and 4 sisters, Alvina Gerlach, Alma Kluth, Erna Scheetz, and Lynn Mehlhaff.
