Obituary of Kelly Lee Bormann

Kelly Lee Bormann, age 62, loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully Mon., July 26, 2021 at her home near Chamberlain under the care of her husband, Paul.  The funeral service will be held Fri., July 30 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 4013 Main St. in Mitchell at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor John Hansen officiating.  The family will be present at the church Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. to welcome guests. Following lunch, burial will be held in the Mount Vernon Cemetery at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Kelly was born on June 5, 1959 to Donald and Janice (Dilges) Ross.  She graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1977 and attended and graduated Stewart School in Sioux Falls.  She enjoyed working as a Contact Lens Technician for several years at Maybee Eye Clinic in Mitchell.  She married Paul K. Bormann on August 24, 1996.  Kelly enjoyed fishing with her husband Paul, tending to her potted plants, working on puzzles, crocheting, spending time with her daughter Jamie and getting beat by her grandson Chase at board games.  Kelly’s favorite part of the day was having her morning coffee on their deck overlooking the Missouri River.  She also loved horses and dogs and she was devoted to her two Boston Terriers, Rudy and Deuce.  Kelly was known for her fun-loving, kind and compassionate spirit.

Kelly was preceded in death by her mother Janice.  She is survived by her father, Donald, her husband, Paul, her daughter Jamie (Brian) Morgan, her grandson, Chase Morgan, her granddaughters Heather (Jon) Garlington and Amanda O’Brien, her brother Bryan (Mary) Ross, her godfather Gary Dilges and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Kelly’s name to Fishing for a Cure, Inc., 106 E Beebe Street Chamberlain, SD 57325 or The Pink Ladies, PO Box 629, Parkston, SD 57366.  Both organizations provide families with financial assistance for cancer treatment.
