Eventually, he moved into the van conversion and recreational vehicle industry as a sales representative.
In 1990, he returned to Parkston and gained employment at the Farmers State Insurance Agency. Among his accomplishments, Paul became a brother of Delta Epsilon Kappa Fraternity in 1974; and was actively involved with most of his alumni brothers throughout his life. Following his father’s death in 1992, Paul was elected to the board of directors of Farmers State Bank and the Parkston Investment Company, serving in those capacities until the time his death. He was a member of the Parkston Commercial Club, eventually serving as president. Paul also served on the Parkston Rural Ambulance Board for 10 years and held several offices of the Parkston Lions Club.
Paul celebrated a “birthday paradox” with his older brother, Robert, who was born the same day four years earlier. Their birthdays were also on their parents’ wedding anniversary.
