Parkston – Armin Virgil Kost, 92, went to his heavenly home Thursday, April 13 at Avera Bormann Manor.  Funeral service will be Monday, April 17 at 10:30 am at Parkston Congregational Church in Parkston.  Visitation will be Sunday, April 16 from 5 to 7 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Parkston Congregational Church in Parkston.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Armin was born August 22, 1930 to Arnold and Lenora (Isaak) Kost.  He was baptized by Rev. J. Rothenberger and confirmed by Rev. A. Schiller.  He attended Kaspch Country School.  He served his country in the United States Air Force from November 8, 1951 until being honorably discharged on December 4, 1953.  He was united in marriage to Arlene Reiner on October 9, 1955.  To this union, 3 children, Darcy, Denise and La Maure, were born.  They farmed southeast of Parkston until retiring and moving into town in 1990.  Armin was a lifelong farmer, helping his son on the farm and working for Hoffman’s Fertilizer and Agland CO-OP in the spring of the year.  He served six years on the Kulm Country School Board, nine years on the Parkston School Board, and held several offices on the Hutchinson County Farm Bureau.  He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and Parkston Congregational Church where he served as treasurer and deacon.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Arlene of Parkston; 2 daughters:  Darcy (Carl) Pulvermacher of Webster, SD and Denise (Tim) Juhnke of Tripp, SD; a son, La Maure of Parkston; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; a sister, LaVonne Lawton of Appleington, IA; a step-sister, Donna Stainbrook of Parkston; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Donald and Dennis; a grandchild; step-mother, Elizabeth; brother-in-law, Jim Lawton; step-brothers, Arnet Howes, Ronald Howes, and Duane Stainbrook.
