Charles Wayne Leonard Obituary

Charles “Chuck” Leonard, 81, died Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at his home in Jacksonville. He was born November 22, 1941, in Brookings, South Dakota, the son of Frances (Dunc.) and Evelyn H. Leonard. He married Wendy McCarty on May 25, 1986, at St. Josephs Chapel in Magnolia, Massachusetts. He is also survived by one sister, Joyce (John) Shea of Magnolia, Massachusetts, and one nephew, Andrew Shea.


Chuck sold oil field equipment in Wyoming for many years before he and Wendy owned a deli in Longmont, Colorado. He enjoyed woodworking and all the creative aspects of designing wooden sleighs, reindeer, and walking canes. He was also a member of the Church of Our Saviour in Jacksonville.


A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9th, 2023, at the Church of Our Saviour in Jacksonville. A prayer service will be held at 3:45 p.m. on Monday, May 8th, with a visitation to follow from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 11 at 1:00 pm in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Armour. Memorials are suggested to the Church of Our Saviour in Jacksonville.
