   Parkston - Cleva Hogrefe Wenzel, 86, formerly of Mitchell, died at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston on Saturday, October 14, 2017. Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell with burial following in Parkston Protestant Cemetery in Parkston. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

   Cleva Hogrefe Wenzel was born to Henry and Regina Lydia (Knodel) Herrboldt on April 26, 1931 at the family farm near Menno, SD. She attended country school near Menno through the 8th grade. After she completed her schooling, she helped her parents on the farm. She was baptized and confirmed at the Reformed Church near Menno. On June 15, 1952 she married Lawrence George Hogrefe at the Salem Reformed Church in Menno, then became a member of Lawrence’s Church in Clayton, SD, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. They farmed 12 miles east of Parkston until Lawrence died on December 23, 1996. Together, they had 4 children. Cleva moved to Parkston then Mitchell. On December 19, 2010, she married Norbert Carl Wenzel at Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell. She was a member of Zion
Lutheran Church in Mitchell, SD.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, flowers, cooking, and traveling. She moved to Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston in April of 2016, where she died on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the age of 86.

   She is survived by her husband, Norbert Wenzel of Parkston, SD, 4 children, Marcia (Steve) Herrgott of Mitchell, SD, Donald (Lori) Hogrefe of Chester, SD, Lori (Sherman) Fuerniss of Delmont, SD, and Tammy (Rick) Thuringer of Delmont, SD, step-daughter, Judy Wenzel of Mitchell, SD, 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, Raymond (Esther) Hogrefe of Lincoln, NE, 2 sisters-in-law, Lois (Loris) Rather of Waukesha, WI and Mildred (Paul) Hartmann of Delmont, SD, and many nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence, parents, sisters, Gertrude Aman and Alice Kost, brothers, Willard Herrboldt and Donald Herrboldt, sisters-in-law, Elsie Herrboldt and Frances Herrboldt, and brothers-in-law, Oliver Aman and Edmund Kost.
