Obituary of Eric "Ike" Loneman

Please share a memory of Eric to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Eric Paul Loneman “Ike”, 46, passed away Monday, October 16 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Eric was born to Paul and Mary Lou Loneman (Hildebrand) on July 23, 1977. He grew up in Menno, South Dakota. As an adult, he enjoyed hunting, listening to music, fishing, and spending time with his friends. Many of his friends would say Eric could catch a fish in the desert.

After high school, Eric served in the South Dakota National Guard with the 153rd Charlie Company out of Parkston, SD and was honorably discharged. Eric was charismatic, humorous, and a friend to many. In his spare time, Eric loved cheering on the Minnesota Twins, the Minnesota Wild, and the San Francisco 49ers. His greatest accomplishment was becoming a father to Eli Loneman (10) and Riley Loneman (8). The love he had for his boys was immeasurable. Eric is survived by his sons, his parents, Grandmother Patricia Loneman, brother Lee Loneman (Amanda), sister Kari Benning (Mike), and brother Bryan Loneman (Meganne). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Visitation services will be held at 5:00-7:00 PM, Sunday, October 22, at Koehn Brothers Funeral Home in Parkston, South Dakota. Honorable burial service will be held Monday, October 23, 1:00 PM at The South Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. There will be a Social gathering at the VFW in Sioux Falls, South Dakota following the burial. In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations be made in Eric's name to the Headstrong Project for veterans.

It is encouraged that Military members wear your service uniform when attending the burial.
