Obituary of Arliss Theresa Schaefers

Parkston – Arliss Theresa Schaefers, 85, went to her heavenly home Thursday, November 9 at Avera St. Benedict Hospital.  Funeral mass will be Wednesday, November 15 at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston.  Visitation will be Tuesday, November 14 from 5 to 7 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Arliss was born February 13, 1938 to Leonard and Theresa (Fuhrman) Weber in Parkston, SD.  She attended Ss. Peter & Paul Parochial School in Dimock, SD through the 8th grade and graduated from Parkston High School.  She was united in marriage to Dale Schaefers on January 24, 1956 in Dimock.  The couple lived on the family farm near Parkston until moving into town in 1984.  After moving into town, Arliss worked for Raven’s and Runnings.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society.  She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She enjoyed quilting and made sure each of her granddaughters received a hand made quilt as well as gardening, bowling, and watching Twins baseball.

Grateful for having shared her life are a daughter, Brenda Wagner of Bradenton, FL; 4 sons:  Dennis (Teri) Schaefers of Phoenix, AZ; Dean (Donna) Schaefers of Parkston; Doug (June) Schaefers of Sioux Falls; and Bruce Schaefers of Tripp, SD; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Janice Heisinger of Parkston; and a brother, Jerome (Sharon) Weber of Dimock.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale in 2003; a daughter, Debra; a sister, Marcelline Fritza; and a brother, Dan Weber.
