Obituary of Carol Johanneson

Please share a memory of Carol to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Carol Benda was born June 8, 1949 in Kimball, South Dakota to Elmer and    Eunice (Thompson) Benda. Carol passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024 in Sheldon, Iowa surrounded by her loving family. A time to share memories will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 10:30am at Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Lake Andes, SD.
After school, Carol  was united in marriage to the love of her life, Jim Johanneson, on October 15, 1966 and the couple settled on a farm northwest of Lake Andes where they farmed most of their married life. Their union of 53 years brought four children: Kristi, James, Tracy, and Mary. As a homemaker, Carol spent her days caring for everyone
around her.  In her free time, one could find her partaking in the family tradition of Bingo or trying her chances at a casino. Carol’s greatest reward are her eleven Grandchildren and twenty-two Great Grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Kristi Camack, James (Amelita) Johanneson, Tracy (Glenn) Sohl, and Mary (Chad) Schave; her brothers LeRoy Benda, Harlan (Ruth) Benda, Eldon Benda and sisters Dorothy Hallman and Lois (Cheryl) Benda.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Jim,  her parents, and brothers, Melvin, Richard and Robert Benda.

Interment will immediately follow the gathering at the Lakeview Cemetery, Lake Andes, SD.

Following the burial, the family invites you to the Duck Inn Banquet Room (formerly known as the VFW Bingo Hall).

Arrangements have been entrusted to Koehn Bros. Funeral Home, Lake Andes.
