Parkston – Merylin “Merle” Ferdinand Boehmer, 96, went to his heavenly home Sunday, April 7 at Avera Bormann Manor.  Memorial mass will be Thursday, August 8 at 4:00 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Merle was born August 7, 1927 to William and Regina (Schoenfelder) Boehmer in Parkston, SD.  He attended and graduated from Parkston High School.  He served his country in the United States Army from February 28, 1951 until being honorably discharged on February 27, 1953.  He returned to Parkston where he farmed with his parents.  He was united in marriage to Charlotte Schriever on August 31, 1974.  Eventually, Merle took over the farm and continued farming until retiring and moving into Parkston.  In retirement, he worked as a bartender at Boog’s Bar in Parkston.  He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the American Legion, VFW and Knights of Columbus.  He was an avid Vikings and Twin fan and enjoyed playing cards and attending local baseball games, even taking tickets occasionally.

Grateful for having shared his life are his sister, Joyce (Darrell) Goldammer of Sioux Falls, SD and 3 sisters-in-law, Marjorie Boehmer of Virginia, Virginia Boehmer of Mitchell, SD and Alvina Boehmer of Mitchell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Charlotte; and 7 siblings:  Oliver (Agnes) Boehmer, Alvin Boehmer, Darlene (Elmer) Muntefering, Donetta (Kenneth) Yusten, Jerry (Dorothy) Boehmer, Larry Boehmer, and Kenneth Boehmer.
