Obituary of Cheryl Ardene Strehlow

Please share a memory of Cheryl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Cheryl Ardene Strehlow, beloved mother and grandmother, went to her heavenly home Wednesday, May 15 at Douglas County Memorial Hospital.  Memorial service will be Wednesday, May 22 at 10:30 am at Armour Community Church in Armour with burial following in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Armour.  Visitation will be Tuesday, May 21 from 6 to 7 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Armour Community Church in Armour.

Cheryl was born to Edward Globke and Rose Hermanek-Globke on August 5, 1948. She grew up on a farm in rural Geddes and graduated from Geddes High School. Following graduation, Cheryl moved to Armour where she met her first husband, Glen. Together they had one child, Scott, and she became a stepmother to Gary, Larry, Randy, and Brenda. She later went on to marry Charles Strehlow in 1988 and became a stepmother to Billy and Melanie.

Cheryl was a hard-worker and stayed young at heart by working various jobs throughout her lifetime. She worked at Rocket Printing and the R-Bar until her passing. Cheryl enjoyed motorcycle rides, rummaging, spending time with family and friends, and keeping her R-bar patrons in line. Wherever Cheryl was, you knew it was going to be a good time. She didn’t take life too seriously. We will miss her quick-wit and contagious laugh. Her biggest achievement was her unconditional love for her grandkids, Courtney and Noah, especially her great-granddaughter Collins. Her grandkids were her pride and joy.

Her lively spirit, kind heart, and unwavering love for others will be missed by her family and friends as she has touched the lives of so many. May her memory live in our hearts forever.

Grateful for having shared her life is her son Scott (Joni) Caldwell of Henderson, NV; Very special friend Jack Russ of Corsica, SD; 3 stepchildren, Gary Caldwell of Sioux Falls, SD; Larry (Janice) Caldwell of Charleston, SC; Brenda (Dan) Nolan of Lynch, NE; Billy (Dena) Strehlow of Salem, OR; Melanie (Dennis) Madison of Magnolia, MN; 2 grandchildren, Courtney (Danny) Baier of Armour, SD; Noah Caldwell of Sioux City, IA; 1 great-granddaughter, Collins Baier of Armour, SD; 5 siblings Ron (Sharon) Globke of Canton SD; Ed (Kathi) Globke of Columbus, OH; Bill (Susan) Cable of Winner, SD; John (Lori) Cable of Geddes, SD; Rita (Marty) Boese of Geddes, SD; and many nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, husbands Glen Caldwell and Chuck Strehlow, sister Rosetta Muilenburg, brother-in-law John Muilenburg , step-son Randy Caldwell, and daughter-in-law Judy Caldwell.
