Scott Allen "Petey" Peters Obituary

Scott “Petey” Allen Peters, 60, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 surrounded by family at Avera St. Benedict Hospital in Parkston.  A celebration of Petey’s life will take place on Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 1 to 3 pm at his home in Delmont – 101 N. Seaman St.  A private, family committal service will be held at a later time.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Petey was born December 12, 1963 to Eldon and Joyce (Schuh) Peters.  He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Delmont where he also sang in the children’s choir.  He grew up on the farm outside of Delmont.  He attended Delmont High School and graduated in 1982.  He attended Sioux Falls College where he also played baseball.  After his schooling, he returned to Delmont where he worked as a handy man and painter.  He was proud of the many homes he painted in the Delmont, Parkston, Tripp and Armour areas.  Petey was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and never needed or expected recognition.  He also helped many of the local farmers with chores, field work and whatever they needed.  He loved to play baseball, especially his time playing for the Delmont Indees.  He enjoyed many hobbies including hunting and fishing with his dad, collecting local memorabilia, and singing Elvis songs at Karaoke with family and friends.  Everyone knew when Petey was around because his laugh was infectious and very recognizable by many.

Grateful for having shared his life are his mother, Joyce Peters of Lennox; 2 brothers:  Shannon (Paulette) Peters and Troy (Mary) Peters; 2 sisters:  Michelle Friess and Sheri (Chris) Reiser; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eldon (Eldy) Peters and both his maternal and paternal grandparents.
