Obituary of Corrinne Johanna Dahlgren

Corrinne Johanna Dahlgren, 92, formerly of Lake Andes, SD, passed away on November 6, 2017 under hospice care in Armour Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral service will be held at First Lutheran Church in Lake Andes, SD on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 2:00pm with Pastor Gary Mass officiating. Private family burial will precede services at Lake View Cemetery, Lake Andes, SD. Visitation will be held at First Lutheran Church, Lake Andes on November 9, 2017 from 5-7pm with a prayer service at 7:00pm.

Corrinne was born in Minneapolis, MN to Fred and Anna (Sisson) Berthilson on September 4, 1925. She graduated high school in 1943 at Aitkin, MN. She earned a teaching degree from Duluth State Teachers College in 1946. She taught 1 year at McGregor and 3 years at Fredenberg School near Duluth, MN. On June 14, 1947 Corrinne was united in marriage to John W Dahlgren at Palisade, MN.

Their home was near Fredenberg, MN until moving to Lake Andes, SD in 1967. Corrinne worked as a Nursing Aide and Restorative Care Aide at Lake Andes Health Care Center for 12½ years. She enjoyed playing piano, organ, gardening, knitting, sewing and reading. Her strong faith in God supported her throughout her life. She dedicated many years to teaching Sunday School, VBS, and playing organ and piano for worship services. She was active in WELCA, American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries, OES Chapter 64 until moving to the Armour nursing home in July 2013.

Corrinne is survived by her children, Janet Evans, Lake Andes, SD, Joanne (Greg) Farke, Armour, SD, John R (Diane) Dahlgren, New Richmond, WI, Jean (Troy) Meink of Nokesville, VA, 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Jane Berthilson of Minneapolis, MN and Marilyn Erling of St. Peter, MN and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, son-in-law Bill Evans, parents and stepmother Esther Berthilson, foster parents Rev. Svante and Edla M. Erling, brothers Loren Berthilson and Bernhard Erling, sisters Winifred Markuson, Margaret Hanson and Evelyn Denzin.

In lieu of flowers, the family will be sending memorials to the Lake Andes Carnegie Library, the Lake Andes Restoration Project and First Lutheran Church. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Lake Andes Meals-On-Wheels volunteers, Social Services Home Health friendships, all her caretakers and friends at the Armour nursing home, Compassionate Care Hospice, Lakeview Colony, Pastor Gary Mass, and Koehn Brothers Funeral Home.
