Parkston – Gregory Allen Heisinger, 62, went to his heavenly home Friday, July 12 at his home in Parkston.  Memorial service will be Wednesday, July 24 at 10:30 am at the Parkston American Legion Hall.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Greg was born on September 6, 1961, to Edward and Margaret (Schultz) Heisinger in Parkston, SD.  He grew up on the farm and attended Sacred Heart Parochial School until it closed.  He finished his education at Parkston Public School and graduated from Parkston High School in 1979.  He served his country in the United States Army National Guard.  After his discharge, he worked for Homestake Gold Mine. He then began working for Mid-Continental, where he worked out of Parkston, Kansas, and Texas.  He proudly welcomed his first son, Michael. He was then united in marriage to Sandy Schrader, and to this union, three children were born: Megan, Cassie, and Jared. Through this union, he was lucky to gain two daughters, Blanche and Stacey. The family moved to Lead, SD, where Greg owned and operated Heisinger’s Masonry Restoration.  He moved his business back to Parkston, where he also helped local farmers and worked for Parkston Grain.  He enjoyed attending auction sales, ice fishing, pheasant hunting with his brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews, canning the most amazing pickles, beets, salsa, and asparagus, and playing cards. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandkids. He loved his grandkids with his whole heart and was happiest when he was with them. Anytime he had the chance to be around his kids and grandkids, he wore a proud smile the entire time.

Grateful for having shared his life are his six children:  Michael (Colleen) Grant of Rapid City, SD; Blanche (Jeremy) Johnson of Plankinton, SD; Stacey (Blake Ligtenberg) Polreis of Corsica, SD; Megan (Kent) Sommer of Mitchell, SD; Cassie (Walter Phelps) Heisinger of Phoenix, AZ; and Jared (Brooke) Heisinger of Scotland, SD; 15 grandchildren – Carson, Corrie, Tessa, Alyssa, Jaylin, Camie, Emily, Jared, Dylan, Luke, Sawyer, Arlo, Opal, Quinn, and Maren; one great-grandson, William; and 17 siblings:  Mary (Kevin) Hammond, Alice Mentele, Joan Miigerl, Mike (Kim) Heisinger, Pat Tapp, George Heisinger, Bill Heisinger, Jim Heisinger, Dave Heisinger, Therese Heisinger, Eugene Heisinger, Lois (Kip) Easton, Lucy Heisinger, Delmar Heisinger, Gary Heisinger, Jo (Tom) Reiff, and Gerilyn (Lance) Pollock.
