Obituary of Elaine Freier

Parkston – Wanda Elaine Freier, 89, went to her heavenly home Friday, November 10 at Avera St. Benedict Hospital.  Funeral service will be Monday, November 13 at 10:30 am at Salem United Church of Christ in Parkston.  Visitation will be Sunday, November 12 from 5 to 7 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Salem United Church of Christ in Parkston.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Elaine was born January 25, 1928 to Adolph and Martha (Juhnke) Decker at Milltown, SD.  She attended country school and graduated from Parkston High School.  She worked at the FSA office and was a receptionist for Dr. Bollinger.  She was united in marriage to Milton Freier on August 22, 1948 in Parkston.  They moved to a farm near Delmont and lived there until 1957.  They then moved to a farm near Parkston, where they lived and farmed all their lives.  Elaine loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was a member of Farm Bureau and Salem United Church of Christ in Parkston where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and was Sunday School Superintendent.  She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing and raising chickens and selling the eggs.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Milton of Parkston; 4 children:  Garry (Jo) Freier of Mitchell; Joel (Brenda) Freier of Cutler, OH; Doug Freier of Parkston; and Denise (Mike) Muntefering of Dimock; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a brother, LaVerne (Erna) Decker of Sioux Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 great-grandchildren, Keelyn and Ashlyn Klinkhammer; and 2 sisters-in-law.
