Please share a memory of Manetta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mitchell – On November 20, 2017, Heaven gained another Angel, Manetta E. Bigge was called to her heavenly home at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell, SD.  Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, November 25 at 10:30 am at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Armour.  Visitation will be Friday, November 24 from 5 to 7 pm with a 7:00 pm Rosary at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Armour.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Armour.

Manetta E. Bigge was born February 20, 1927, to William H. and Lydia (Grosz) Blume in Sioux Falls, SD.  She was baptized into the Christian faith on April 24, 1927, and confirmed on June 22, 1941, at St. Peter Lutheran Church.  She attended country school until she was needed to help her parents on the farm.  She fell in love and married Lawrence H. Bigge on October 8, 1947, at St. George's Catholic Church in Armour.  Manetta was a busy farm wife and raised 6 children.  She was also active in Altar Society, Armour All Star Hams, Red Hat Club and bowling teams.  She had a zest for life and loved to tell jokes and make people laugh.  She absolutely loved living in Armour and knew everyone.  If she didn't know someone, it didn't take long for her to get to know them!

During her latter years, Manetta enjoyed crocheting and made afghans for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Grandma Bigge loved her grandchildren and spending time with them.  Every visit, she always pulled a sweet treat from her purse, always M&M's!  When asked what was so "great" about being a "great-grandma", she would respond, "Well, I don't have to watch them or change their diapers . . . I am just needed for pictures!"

Grateful for having shared her life are her 6 children:  Garlan (Beverly) Bigge of Huron, SD; Joanne (Bert) Rabenberg of Mitchell, SD; David (Diana) Bigge of Sioux Falls; Joel (Ladonna) Bigge of Mitchell; Jolene (Dean) Rothenberger of Lennox, SD; and Jay (Lisa) Bigge of Mitchell; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence, and mother and father-in-law.
