Obituary of Donald Heezen

Armour – Donald Heezen, 80, went to his heavenly home Friday, September 27 at his home in Armour under hospice care and surrounded by his loving children.   A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 1 at 10:00 am at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Armour.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Armour.

Don was born January 9, 1944 to Richard and Evelyn (Taylor) Heezen in Mitchell, SD.  After graduating from Armour High School, he worked on a road crew building roads.  He moved to Rockford, IL in 1965 where he worked as a machinist, eventually becoming foreman, for Mattison Machine Works.  He was united in marriage to Joan M. Hunter on October 22, 1970 at his parents home.  To this union, 3 children, Kristen Lee, Melanie Kay and Raymond Richard, were born.  He retired in 1998 and moved back to Armour.  He loved hunting, fishing and working on cars.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Joan; 3 children:  Kristen Lee Hunter Loeffelhol, Melanie Kay Heezen Stevens and Raymond (Jake) Heezen; 2 grandson, Zakkary Hunter and Preston Gahl; and 2 great-granddaughters.
