Stickney – Grace Guenthner, 94, went to her heavenly home Friday, November 29, 2024 at Good Samaritan Center – Corscia.  Memorial service will be Friday, December 13 at 1:00 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stickney with burial to follow at Blooming Valley Cemetery near Corsica.  Visitation will be Thursday, December 12 from 4 to 6 pm, with a 5:30 pm prayer service, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stickney.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Stickney.

Grace was born April 18, 1930 to Fred and Freida (Boeker) Wieczorek on the family farm near Stickney, SD.  She attended Stickney High School and graduated in 1947.  She  attended Yankton College in Yankton, SD and received her nursing degree from St. Joseph’s Nursing School in Mitchell, SD.  She was united in marriage to Clifford Guenthner in 1954.  Together, the couple farmed and raised their 3 children, Jim, Tom and Betty, near Stickney.  In addition to helping on the farm and raising her family, Grace worked as a nurse for Douglas County Memorial Hospital for over 40 years.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially 9:30 coffee time, traveling and playing Pinochle and other card games.  She was a woman of great faith and member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stickney.

Grateful for having shared her life are her 3 children:  Jim (special friend, Florence Erpenbach) Guenthner of Stickney; Tom (Marie) Guenthner of Stickney and Betty (Don) Nettleton of Sturgis, SD; 5 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford; 2 brothers, Robert and Wilfred; and a daughter-in-law, Vickie.
