Armour – Chad Michael Wentland, 48, went to his heavenly home Saturday, December 14 at Douglas County Memorial Hospital.  Funeral service will be Saturday, December 21 at 10:00 am Grace Reformed Church in Corsica.  Visitation will be Friday, December 20 5 to 7 pm, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm, at Grace Reformed Church in Corsica.  

Chad was born August 31, 1976 to Ron and Jean (Nincehelser) Wentland in Armour, SD. He attended and graduated from Corsica High School in 1995. He graduated from Mitchell Technical Institute in 1997 with a degree as an electrician. He worked for D&J Electric and Fox Ridge for a short time. He was united in marriage to Tara Groeneweg on July 17, 1999 in Corsica, SD. In 2004, Chad began working for IT Outlet of Brandon, SD in the Corsica office. He was a member of Grace Reformed Church where he also served as a Deacon. He was a member of the Corsica Volunteer Fire Department, Summer Rec. Board, I90 Baseball Board, and served on the Corsica City Council. Throughout his life, Chad enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and playing poker but coaching youth athletics was one of his greatest passions in life. He instilled not only a love for the game but also discipline, dedication, and the importance of family. His legacy will live on in the youth of those he coached for years to come.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Tara of Corsica; three sons, Brendan (special friend, Baylee) Wentland of Corsica, Tyson Wentland of Corsica, and Tryton Wentland of Corsica; parents, Ron and Jean Wentland of Corsica; two sisters: Tracy (Justin) Blom of Sioux Falls, SD and Robin (Brett) Feenstra of Corsica; mother-in-law, Barb Groeneweg of Corsica; three brothers-in-law: Wade (Lindsey) Groeneweg of Corsica, Brad (Lexy) Groeneweg of Corsica, and Aaron (special friend, Tylee) Groeneweg of Corsica along with many aunts, uncles, nephews, and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Les Groeneweg and his grandparents, Harry and Scotty Nincehelser, and Alvin and Ethel Wentland.

Memorials would be preferred in lieu of flowers.
