Parkston – Dennis Nicholas Boehmer, 70, went to his heavenly home Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Avera St. Benedict Hospital.  Masonic funeral service will be Saturday, December 28 at 10:30 am at the American Legion Hall in Parkston.  Visitation will be Friday, December 27 from 4 to 6 pm at Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Dennis was born December 4, 1954 to Patrick and Lenora (Hoff) Boehmer in Parkston, SD.  He graduated from Parkston High School in 1973.  While in high school, he also worked for the City of Parkston.  He attended Mitchell Tech and graduated with a degree in electronics.  He was united in marriage to Sally Thiesse on May 29, 1976 in Olivet, SD.  He lived in Harlan, IA and Lincoln, NE where he worked for Midland Telephone before moving to Sioux City, IA where he worked for Gazelle Telephone and High Point Telephone.  

He was a member and Past Master of Triangle Lodge #643 in Sioux City.  Dennis was a member and Past High Priest of Sioux City Chapter #26, Past Illustrious Master of Zadok Council #24, and Past Eminent Commander of Columbian Commandery #18 in Sioux City.  He was currently serving as secretary/recorder of the Sioux City York Rite Bodies.  He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason in the Valley of Sioux City and had been invested with the K.C.C.H.

Dennis served as Right Eminent Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery Knights Templar of Iowa in 2010-2011 and Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons of Iowa in 2017-2018.  He was a member and Past Prior of Charles Clyde Hunt Priory #42 KYCH, member and Past Preceptor of Last Supper Tabernacle XVIII H.R.A.K.T.P., member and Past Governor of Lewis & Clark York Rite College #199, and a member of St. Bartholomew Conclave Red Cross of Constantine.   He was a recipient of the Order of the Purple Cross from the York Rite Sovereign College of North America.

He was a member of Azure Chapter #548 Order of the Eastern Star.  He had served on the Advisory Board for Sioux City Assembly #26 of Rainbow and was a recipient of the Grand Cross of Color.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Sally of Dimock, SD; 4 children: Shawn Boehmer of Council Bluffs, NE; Matt Boehmer of Sioux City; Chris Boehmer of Sioux City; and Alicia Boehmer of Sioux City; his father, Patrick Boehmer of Parkston; 4 grandchildren, Emma, Lexi, Jasper and Grayson; 4 siblings:  James (JoAnn) Boehmer of Parkston; Diane (Larry) Wermers of Rapid City, SD; Mark (Gina) Boehmer of Sherrard, IL; and Joel (special friend, Kimberly) Boehmer of Parkston; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lenora.
