Obituary of Bernadette Mary Boehmer

Bernadette Mary Boehmer, 88, went to her heavenly home Friday, December 1 at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston.  Funeral mass will be Tuesday, December 5 at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston.  Visitation will be Monday, December 4 from 5 to 7 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston.  Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Bernadette was born December 22, 1928 to Joesph and Rose (Oberembt) Haag at Dimock, SD.  She attended Ss. Peter & Paul Parochial School in Dimock though the 8th grade.  She was united in marriage to Cletus Boehmer on November 30, 1950 at Dimock.  To this union 9 children were born.  Bernadette was an active mother and enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, and was activity director at Avera Bormann Manor for many years.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America and was a 4-H leader.  Along with Cletus, they delivered Meals on Wheels and did other volunteer work for their church and community.  In her later years, she enjoyed playing cards, sewing and crafts, and made many quilts, rugs and scrubbies.  She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them and her many friends.

Grateful for having shared her life are her 9 children:  Thomas Boehmer of Mitchell, SD; Colette Boehmer of Medford, OR; Annette Karnes of Big Bear Lake, CA; Rita (Dick) Sipe of LaQuinta, CA; David (Lynette) Boehmer of Parkston, SD; Mary (Bill) McGill of Minneapolis, MN; Carol (John) Robshaw of Sioux Falls, SD; Pam (Kevin) Ellertson of River Falls, WI; and Steven (Staci) Boehmer of Maple Grove, MN; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 4 siblings:  Sister Imelda Haag of Watertown, SD; Donald (Rose Ann) Haag of Sturgis, SD; Cyril (JoAnn) Haag of Fulton, SD; and Allan (Ann) Haag of Dimock.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Rose Haag; husband, Cletus; and a grandson, Brian.
